Copywriting isn’t similar to the kind of writing we learned in school. But in this day and age, every marketing approach needs brilliant copywriting to attain success. And for marketers, they must live and breathe compelling copy that converts because graphics alone won’t do the job. It would be best if you had stellar copywriting that makes customers act. If you don’t know what it takes to write killer copy, these 10 ad copy examples will teach you how the big guns do it.

1. Everlane

ad copy example

Everlane is a clothing retailer that banks on “Exceptional quality. Ethical factories. Radical Transparency.” And nowadays, sustainability has become a necessity for brands. More and more customers are now inclined to brands that care about how they manufacture their products.

For Everlane, it was easy for them to show transparency in one of their advertisements. In this ad copy example, they show what the real costs of production are. This infographic breaks down the costs for materials, labor, hardware, duties, and shipping. The company also shows two prices: One for other retail stores and one for Everlane, which is significantly lower than the other clothing retailers.

2. Apple

ad copy example

Apple is well-known for its concise and punchy copywriting. And this is one of the most genuine ad copy examples from this list. The sophisticated brand’s founder has always put end-to-end user experience and quality at the top of the list. Jobs had the dream of being the creme de la creme in the tech industry. In turn, he created the most elegant and user-friendly products in the market

Their copywritng, on the other hand, is as good as their products. It’s succinct, but it appeals to tech-savvy individuals from the get-go. Because of Apple’s decades-long reputation as the most innovative brand, they have the power to showcase it in their ads. This ad had me at “world’s most advanced mobile operating system.”

3. Hyposwiss Bank

ad copy example

This Switzerland-based bank had one of the most honest advertising from these ad copy examples. Hyposwiss Bank aims to grow your assets through measured risks. Plus, the company relies on an “open architecture” system. This means they provide their customers access to the top financial products they can get their hands on.

It’s clear from the beginning that Hyposwiss Bank prioritizes honesty. And this ad copy was a bit too honest if you ask us. But we love it! Customers know every business needs to garner more sales to stay afloat, and this ad states that fact instead of beating around the bush.

4. Basecamp

ad copy example

Only eight out of 10 people read headlines. Moreover, only two out of 10 people will read the rest of the copy — if the headline piques their interest. It’s only captivating to create a sense of mystery for business models that are hard to explain.

And Basecamp knows exactly how to do just that. On their landing page, the headline “Wish Granted” will make customers want to know more about what the wish was. Plus, the first sentence, “Ever wish work was…less work?” leads them to the rest of the paragraph. This is brilliant and straightforward copywriting at its best.

5. Ricola

ad copy example

Who would’ve thought excellent copywriting can be compressed into five simple words? Ricola, a Swiss brand that sells cough drops made out of specialist herb products, slayed it.

The advertisement implies the message can get taken out of context, especially when you’re coughing in between words. Ricola smartly positions their cough drops to make sure you deliver the message correctly.

6. Daihatsu

ad copy example

Daihatsu has one of the most ingenious ad copy examples that every marketer should learn from. Being the underdog in the automobile manufacturing industry, Daihatsu challenges the top guns like Lamborghini.

Compared to its four-seater counterpart, Daihatsu claims theirs can pick up more women because of the large seating capacity. Technically, Daihatsu is right. They boast in a six to seven-seater capacity and would, therefore, fit more women.

7. Snowbird Ski Resort

ad copy example

Snowbird Ski Resort’s social proof tactic can challenge anyone who wants the adrenaline rush in skiing. Although social proof can work to a brand’s advantage, Snowbird cleverly tries to capture their audience’s attention by making it seem like the opposite of a good review.

On their landing page, there’s a one-star rating with the caption “Too Advanced.” Since Snowbird knows who their target audience is, they think this copy is a challenge invitation. And it works!

8. Loreal Paris

ad copy example

We’ve been dealing with the status quo in the workplace, and it’s about time a brand stands up for gender equality. Loreal Paris creates this ad copy that packs a punch — literally into a male higher-up’s gut.

Putting their lipstick products front and center, they accompany it with brilliant copywriting, bold color, and exceptional image. It says, “This is an ad for men.” Underneath it, it reads, “Hire more women in leadership roles. We’re all worth it.”

Honestly, this advertisement is straight to the point without having to deviate from facts. This copy hits two birds with one stone by educating men and empowering women as well.

9. Nike

ad copy example

Nike has been in several controversies ever since. But there is no sign of this prominent brand slowing down. The brand stands up to several advocacies, and that’s where their target audience can relate.

In 2016, the American football player Colin Kaepernick showed his advocacy against the police’s abuse of African Americans. During the game’s national anthem, the civil rights activist sat and knelt to protest against police brutality.

Although Nike received public backlash for choosing Colin to represent the brand’s advocacy on racism and equality, important figures such as Serena Williams and LeBron James lauded Nike for the move.

10. Chevrolet

ad copy example

You might think of Chevrolet as an automobile brand. But what many fail to realize is that their branding heavily integrates music. Music depicts what it feels like being on the road, driving your car, and listening to your favorite tunes.

To date, there have been about 600 to 800 songs written about Chevrolet. And none about Volvos. And this is where Chevrolet pokes fun at their copywriting. It’s a lighthearted way of saying, we’re your best companion on the road.
